Balto is a 4-year-old Cattle Dog with all the intelligence, drive, and loyalty you’d expect from a working breed—and then some.

He’s the kind of dog who thrives when he has structure, purpose, and a person who understands how rewarding (and demanding) these dogs can be. Balto walks well on leash, appears to be housetrained, knows some tricks, and does well with other dogs.

Like many herding breeds, Balto is deeply people-focused, but he can be wary of strangers and is protective of his person. Because of this, he has shown resource guarding behavior and may lunge when feeling uncomfortable or uncertain around unfamiliar people.

Balto is looking for a breed-savvy adopter who understands working dogs and is committed to giving him the time, training, and consistency he needs to succeed. In the right home, with clear boundaries and the right relationship, Balto has the potential to be an incredibly loyal companion.
